Start a Home Based Gardening Business
If
you have ever enjoyed working in your garden (and who hasn't?),
you could very well become the owner of a gardening business.
It would take some tools, advertising, and a lot of elbow
grease, but it could prove to be very rewarding.
These days many of us are too busy to take over gardening
chores. The day's work and other responsibilities take all the
available time, and garden help would be appreciated.
To get started, post some ads on supermarket notice boards
describing your services. A good way to begin would be to offer
your service as a plant sitter for people who travel. This
would entail a visit twice a week to water plants while the
owners are away.
If you begin this way, you will soon have word of mouth advertising, as each client refers others to you for your service. This job requires no outlay of money, except, perhaps, for a watering can, so you could start immediately. Be sure that you write the client's directions down so you will not over-water the plants.
As you go along this path, you may want to spread out into actual outdoor work. You will probably get requests from your active clients to help them with their own outdoor gardens. Perhaps you will be asked to water and trim the garden while they are on vacation. This can grow into a lucrative business, and requires little financial outlay.
You could also branch out into a side business of selling small garden ornaments. If you are artistic, or if a family member is into crafts, this could be a good way to earn extra dollars. Buy some small unpainted garden ornaments ( perhaps at the local dollar or craft store), finish them, price them fairly, and offer them at a fair price to your customers.
Think of a catchy name for your business, keep your prices competitive and you are on your way to having a low-maintenance home business. You bonus? Outdoor exercise and a pocketful of cash.
