Start a Gift Shop Business
Everyone
loves to receive gifts while some excel at giving them. If gift
giving and wrapping are a talent you possess, you might want to
open a gift shop business. You can combine your talent of being
able to choose the right gift as a service to benefit of others
who aren't as talented in the gift-giving department.

Unlike some other start-up
businesses, there isn't any real training you need to open a
gift shop business. Of course, having a background in business
is always a good idea so you may want to go back to school to
learn business management and possibly some marketing skills.
Otherwise a strong desire to help others, a good location, and
financial backing may be all you need.
Take time to visit a number of gift shops whether in your own hometown or
a short distance away. Try to find out what makes them successful. You
don't have to follow their example, but having some ideas about why they
succeed where others have failed will give you an additional edge to do
the same.
Who do you want your potential customers to be? Knowing this will enable
you to choose the types of gifts you'll offer and how to market to that
group. Check to see if there are any gift shops going out of business and
see if you can purchase their stock from them. It could save you quite a
bit on start-up costs.
