If you want to start an interior design business I would suggest some type of formal education in design or a good knowledge of design styles. It will always help if you have some examples of your work, even if it is just things you have done to your home or friends and families homes, you need something to get started. An imagination and ability to present your thoughts on paper would also be a plus. Most people will want to see your ideas before you start redoing a room or entire house.

Depending on if you are going to do the work yourself or hire out the labor will tell you what kind of equipment you will need. If you are just coming up with designs you will need something to present your ideas and some dependable labor to bring your ideas to life.
