How to Start a Shoe Business

Everyone owns shoes, many own multiple pairs, and quite a few are just obsessed with them. Give people what they want and need, open a shoe store in your neighborhood. There are two ways to do this, open a franchise like payless, or start your own.

To start a franchise, we'll use Payless as an example but there are many others, you need to contact them and get the information on what they need from you. You will pay a franchise fee of $15,000 to $25,000 and be up and running in 6 -12 months.

The great advantage to this is the name, everyone knows payless shoes and you only need minimal advertising. You don't need to worry about setting up shoe vendors or any other details, it is done for you. Overall an easy start but maybe not what you are looking for.

Starting your own store is more difficult but it is 100% your business. Decide where you want your store and then you will know what kind of shoes you want to sell. A higher income neighborhood will most likely want a higher class shoe store, and a lower middle class area may want a more budget friendly store. Setting up vendors will be your next step; the internet will give you the info needed for contacting your desired companies. As always, be fair and friendly, go above and beyond for your customers and you will succeed.
